The Cazes family, which heads Château Lynch-Bages, are the proud new owners of Château Haut-Batailley, an 1855 Grand Cru Classé in Pauillac owned previously by the Des Brest-Borie family. Both families have had strong roots in the Pauillac and Médoc landscape for generations.

Tasting Notes

The 2019 Château Haut-Batailley Verso is incredibly floral and perfumed, with beautiful red and blue fruits as well as lead pencil, tobacco, and sappy herb nuances. A medium-bodied, elegant second wine, which represents fantastic value for money.

"The 2019 Verso de Haut-Batailley, which I did not taste last year, has a perfumed bouquet of mint-tinged black fruit and a touch of graphite in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with pencil lead notes on the entry. This Deuxième Vin is endowed with splendid concentration. Classic in style, with just a touch of black pepper toward the finish. Well worth seeking out."
