For several generations, the family has lived in the Centre-Loire. In the early 1980s, Jean-Marie created the Domaine des Clairneaux from scratch in the Sancerre appellation. In 1998, the estate grew with the takeover of Domaine de Montbenoit in the Coteaux du Giennois, our grandfather's vineyard.

In 2015 operations began in the north of the Coteaux du Giennois appellation, in the village of Beaulieu-sur-Loire. Today, they join forces with talented winegrowers to develop their know-how on new Center-Loire appellations such as Pouilly-Fumé and Menetou-Salon.

Tasting Notes

Bright, garnet coloured wine, this red Coteaux du Giennois has a typical nose with dark fruit and hints of spice.
The freshness on entry to the palate is partnered by a velvety texture. Cherries, blackberries and blueberries develop to provide an excellent harmonious wine, with an uplifting touch of spice on the finish.

''With 15% Gamay Noir, it's not a single varietal, but this is a supremely elegant expression of Pinot and Gamay Noir.
Redcurrants and black cherries are present in a fruity nose with nuances of baking spice, woody herbs and a defined minerality. This has a finely tuned, lively acidity and ripe fruit, with a rounded spice and mild tannic grip. A similar wine from Burgundy would be much more expensive''
