The Avril family has been making wine in Châteauneuf-du-Pape since the beginning of the 18th century and have long been one of the appellation's reference points for wine. The organically and biodynamically farmed vineyards comprise 35 hectares spread over 24 different plots. Six different grape varieties are used for the red and six for the white. Importantly and very much part of the Avril family's philosophy, only one red and one white are produced. The grapes are de-stemmed 100% and fermentation takes place in cement tanks for the red with ageing in foudres whilst the white is only aged in tank.

Tasting Notes

Very juicy and lively in feel, with pepper, tobacco and bay leaf notes leading the way for a core of raspberry, bitter plum and redcurrant coulis flavours. The long finish lets the pepper and tobacco notes play out, with pleasant acidity embedded throughout.
