Malbec from its true home in Cahors, made by the man known locally as 'the master of Malbec'.

Almost black, with generous dark fruit and supple spice. Rich, smooth and well rounded, with fine tannins and deep, concentrated fruit.

Drink it with: Duck confit, cassoulet, steak or hard cheeses.

When to drink: Drinking well now and will keep for several years. It can benefit from a short time in a decanter.

The producer: The Baldès family first planted vines in Cahors in 1830, and Jean-Luc has run Clos Triguedina for some 30 years.

Sustainability: The estate is farmed sustainably under HVE level 3 certification.

Press Review

''Malbec lovers can be forgiven for sometimes thinking that Argentina is the home of Malbec. It might be now - but Cahors, in southwest France, is very much its spiritual home. This is a particularly fine example of a French Malbec - almost black in the glass, with amazing richness, great fruit (think blackberries) concentration and hints of spice.. For all that there is great subtlety here, and silky tannins.''
