Chateau Lynch Bages, Pauillac 2014
A classic, Cabernet-led Pauillac from one of the Médoc's best-loved châteaux, in a vintage that critics rate as especially good value.
69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Violets and mint on the nose; a fresh, then rich palate of ripe black fruit with fine, supple tannins and a bright, elegant finish.
Drink it with: Roast rib of beef, rack of lamb, or venison. A wine for Sunday lunch or a special dinner.
When to drink: Now opening up and should drink well for at least another decade. It can benefit from time in a decanter.
The producer: Lynch-Bages is part of the lineage of great Pauillac, admired for combining structure and finesse with a generous, open style.
