Nestled between the hills of Pavia and Ausone, the vineyard of the Château La Gaffelière, a historic Grand Cru de Saint-Émilion, extends over 38 hectares in southern exhibition.The plots are positioned on the 3 specific terroirs of Saint-Emilion: the limestone plateau, the clay-limestone coast and the more siliceous coast foot. The family of Malet Roquefort has managed with passion for the destiny of the property for more than three centuries, with a single goal: the valuation of the vineyard while producing a large wine in guard.

Tasting Notes

Slowly unfurling to reveal stewed red and black plums, mulberries, and Morello cherries, with hints of damp earth, tar, and bouquet garni. Medium to full-bodied, tightly wound palate with crunchy red and black fruits, fine-grained tannins, and loads of freshness — long finish with lifted perfume.

James Suckling (95 pts): Aromas of black cherries, flowers, and cedar with sandalwood and stone. Full-bodied and very intense with wonderfully polished tannins that caress the palate. Give it time to come together — try after 2025.

Decanter (96 pts, per Jane Anson-style note): The combination of Cabernet Franc and limestone gives both a beautifully floral-laced nose and a sense of energy and lift through the palate. "Extremely light-footed" despite 14.5% ABV — the alcohol is barely discernible, with black fruit followed by juiciness at every step.
