Opus One, Napa Valley, 2023
Arriving November 2026 — reserve your bottle now. This is the newly released 2023 vintage, offered as a pre-arrival order ahead of it landing in our warehouse.
Opus One was founded by Baron Philippe de Rothschild, legendary proprietor of Château
Mouton Rothschild, and renowned Napa Valley vintner Robert Mondavi. By combining the
great winemaking traditions and innovations of both families, the founders' singular goal was to create an exceptional wine in the heart of Napa Valley.
Opus One, like any great work, arose out of passion. Dedicated to uncompromised quality,
Opus One's sole purpose is to express this vision and passionate spirit for generations to come.
The 2023 Vintage
2023 was an uncomplicated, highly acclaimed growing season in Napa Valley, with fruit picked between mid-September and mid-October at 13.5% abv. The blend is approximately 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec, aged 19 months in French oak.
On the nose it shows blackcurrant, dark fruit, rose stem and forest floor notes; on the palate, black cassis and cherry with cocoa powder, fine-grained, plush tannins and a long, supple finish. A wine built for the cellar as much as the table — drinking window recommended out to 2065.
