Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte Rouge 2015, Pessac-Léognan
The 2015 vintage holds special significance for Château Smith Haut Lafitte, marking both the 650th anniversary of vine-growing on the estate and 25 years of the Cathiard family's ownership. It is widely listed among the finest vintages the estate has produced for its rouge, with 2015 being a landmark year across the Left Bank — warm, dry and generous, yielding wines of exceptional concentration and structure. Now entering an approachable phase while still carrying significant aging potential, this is a wine built for the long term.
The property has been owned by Florence and her late husband Daniel Cathiard since 1990, under whom it has risen to become one of the most consistently acclaimed producers on the Left Bank for both red and white wines.
Today we see the younger generation take more control with their 3 daughters directly involved in the Chateau activities across skincare (Caudelie) wellness and wine production.
The estate farms sustainably across its 78-hectare vineyard and operates its own cooperage, producing around 70% of its own barrels.
