Since 1928, the Cavallotto family has owned the estate Tenuta Bricco Boschis. In 1946, they were the first cultivators in Castiglione Falletto to vinify all of their estate’s fruit. In 1948 they released the first bottling of their own BAROLO wine, with the label and registered trademark of Cavallotto.

18 Points Walter Speller JancisRobinson.com Tasted 11/23 - Castiglione Falletto. Lustrous ruby with orange tinges. Expressive, complex and enticing nose of earth, raspberry and stones. Gorgeous, juicy, lush raspberry fruit charged with chewy tannins that demand more time. Spectacular balance and only at the very beginning of its evolution. (WS)

Today the children of Olivio – Laura, Giuseppe and Alfio, the 4th generation working the family farm – continue to exclusively vinify the grapes produced in their estate vineyards into DOC and DOCG wines: Barolo, Dolcetto d’Alba, Barbera d’Alba, Langhe Nebbiolo  & Langhe Freisa.

Tasting Notes

Optimal structure but with already-soft tannins, and with an open, intense perfume that gives this Barolo characteristics of both power and great elegance. Complex and fragrant, can be enjoyed young but has great aging potential.

Press Review

"Opening to a dark Nebbiolo color, the organic Cavallotto 2019 Barolo Bricco Boschis is a little richer in this vintage. The quality of aromas also takes on a bigger profile with dried blackberry, licorice and earthy black truffle. This apparently comes from the fruit but is also shaped by the wine's long aging regime that sees 36 months in Slavonian oak casks.

Press Review 2

Mid ruby with orange tinges. An immediate, captivating nose, concentrated and complex. Cherry, raspberry and pet shop (in a positive sense), garden herbs and morocco leather although this has only seen large oak casks. Saline minerally hints. Very compact and embryonic on the palate with endless, fine, gravelly tannins. Monumental. Drink 2026-2038."
