Lucien Lardy, Beaujolais Villages, 2021
Beaujolais displaying the individuality that can only come from a good single grower, is the exception rather than the rule. Lucien and Claude Lardy, based in the village of Fleurie, own 12.5 hectares of very old, carefully tended vines, divided between the cru villages of Fleurie, Morgon & Moulin á Vent. Instead of selling their grapes to a negociant, they bottle all of their production themselves and are justifiably proud of their award winning wines which range from light, floral and easy drinking to more powerful, complex wines.
