An elegant, fruit-filled Rioja Reserva from a family estate in the cooler Rioja Alavesa, neither over-oaked nor over-alcoholic.

Tempranillo. Ripe red fruits with hints of cinnamon and vanilla; layers of raspberry, strawberry and plum on a full, complex palate with soft, rounded tannins and gentle spice.

Drink it with: Roast lamb, chorizo, slow-cooked pork or Manchego.

When to drink: Drinking well now and will keep for several years.

The producer: Founded in 1928, the Cañas family can trace its roots in Rioja soil back more than two centuries.

Sustainability: The family farms 90 hectares organically in the hills of Rioja Alavesa.
