The Malagouzia grape was rescued from near extinction by Vangelis Gerovassiliou when
he planted his vineyard in Epanomi in Northern Greece. In the Gerovassiliou winery new
technological advances blend well with tradition in the vine growing and vinification processes to produce high-quality wines that carry all the distinct characteristics of the PGI terroir of Epanomi. On their 950 acre single vineyard, the goal is to produce quality wines with the typical characteristics of the microclimate and terroir. The climate is Mediterranean, with mild winters and hot summers, moderated by the sea breezes on all sides.

Tasting Notes

This wine has a beautiful lemon colour and pronounced aromas of ripe stone, tropical and citrus fruits. Also, with an elegant floral character and sweet spice notes, this wine has layers of complexity on the nose. On the palate the wine is dry, with a balanced acidity and a creamy texture. With a nearly full bodied character, oiliness and persistent length, the wine has enough structure to develop in the bottle for the next 5 years.

Press Review 2

"Super-fresh and focused. Really racy with fine satin texture and excellent acidity but no shortage of fruit and energy."
17/20 Jancis Robinson
