A historical reference of the Saint-Julien appellation, Château Gruaud Larose was founded in 1757, when different estates merged. The property received its current name when the heir of Joseph Gruaud added “Larose” to his name, thus becoming Château Gruaud Larose. Acquired by the Merlaut family in 1997, Château Gruaud Larose embodies the excellence of the fine red wines of Saint-Julien and seduces fans of the appellation with its signature style.

Well-defined bouquet with tertiary red berry fruit, understated at first but gaining intensity with air; medium-bodied palate with sappy black fruit, tarry character, and tobacco and black pepper on the finish.

Press Review

Falstaff (Peter Moser, 92pts): Dark ruby garnet with purple reflections; delicate notes of figs, blueberries, candied orange zest, and fine chocolate on the nose. Powerful and juicy with ripe plums, dark chocolate, well-integrated tannins, and mineral length — already accessible with good ageing potential.
