Alluring bouquet of dark berry fruit, pressed flowers, and subtle earthy elements. Medium-bodied with excellent depth and complexity reflecting Pessac-Léognan terroir. Notes of black currants and aromatic spices enhanced by refreshing acidity and a long, elegant finish.

Wine Advocate (93 pts): Well-defined bouquet with mulberry, cranberry, pressed flowers, and a touch of undergrowth — neatly defined though not powerful, with commendable precision. Medium-bodied palate with crisp, firm tannin, tensile and energetic (more so than the estate's Merlot-based second wine), with impressive structure and length on an "almost Pauillac-like, graphite-infused finish." Called "a fabulous second wine from Smith Haut Lafitte" with enough depth and pedigree to develop beautifully over the next 10–15 years
