Founded by Giuseppe Maria Sesti, an astronomer turned vintner, the estate reflects a deep connection to nature and tradition. The Sesti family revitalized the ancient Castello di Argiano in the 1970s and began producing wine in the 1990s, emphasizing biodynamic principles. They integrate lunar and cosmic rhythms into their vineyard management, honouring ancient agricultural practices. The estate produces exceptional wines characterized by elegance and balance, with a particular focus on their Brunello, aged in large Slavonian oak casks to preserve the purity of Sangiovese. Sesti wines are highly sought after for their craftsmanship and the philosophy of harmony they embody.

Tasting Notes

A pure and elegant expression of Sangiovese, crafted to showcase the varietal's versatility and vibrancy. On the nose, it presents enticing aromas of red cherries, wild strawberries, and cranberries, complemented by floral notes of violets and subtle hints of Mediterranean herbs. The palate is fresh and medium-bodied, with a lively acidity that highlights the juicy red fruit flavours, balanced by soft, silky tannins. Subtle undertones of spice and a touch of minerality add complexity, leading to a clean and satisfying finish. This approachable and versatile wine is perfect for enjoying in its youth and pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes, from pasta with tomato-based sauces to grilled meats and antipasti.

Press Review

“I loved this relatively inexpensive wine from the Sesti family’s Castello di Argiano when I tasted it in
London recently alongside the likes of Ornellaia and Sassicaia.....this modest wine designed for – guess
what? – drinking. You can happily enjoy this wine for its combination of life, tang, and rich fruit” Jancis
Robinson.
