Created at the beginning of the XIX° century, Phélan Ségur is the result of the extraordinary work of M. Phélan. This château, one of the largest of Médoc region, is made of the mix of two properties: Clos de Garramay and Chateau Ségur which was owned by the Comtes de Ségur.

This is the second wine of top Saint-Estèphe, Château Phélan-Ségur. It shows attractive red fruits with good balance, ripe tannins and attractive freshness.

Tasting Notes

Deep purple-black coloured, the 2017 Frank Phélan jumps from the glass with punchy black cherries, boysenberries and plum preserves scents with a core of warm cassis, candied violets, dark chocolate and garrigue. Medium-bodied, the palate has a classic chewy structure with seamless freshness supporting the muscular black fruits, finishing earthy.

"A very serious St.-Estèphe with excellent concentration, firm tannins and a dark soul. I love the earth, walnut, bark and smoke aromas that pour out of this. Very long, dramatic, dry finish. Better from 2021."
