Château Du Glana is located between the towns of Beychevelle and Saint-Julien, opposite the famous Château Ducru-Beaucaillou. Mr Gabriel Meffre bought the estate in 1961 and increased the vineyard by acquiring several plots from third growth Château Lagrange. He also consulted wine guru Denis Dubourdieu to create a well-balanced, velvety, and complex wine enjoyable young, but also with excellent ageing potential.

Tasting Notes

The 2016 du Glana gives up plums, cassis, earth and dried herbs scents with nuances of meats and wood smoke. The palate is medium-bodied, elegant, fresh and minerally with fine-grained tannins and a lively finish.

Press Review

"56% Cabernet Sauvignon and 44% Merlot, given 12 months in oak, 40% new: suave and already approachable. “Bright crimson. Plump, ripe, purple-fruit nose. Very flattering. Easy peasy. Super-round and bright. 16.5/20”, Jancis Robinson MW,

Neal Martin
The Wine Advocate

"The 2016 Chateau du Glana has a very deep, almost regulgent purple/black colour. The bouquet is very attractive with very pure black cherry and blueberry fruit, well-integrated new oak and a Margaux-like floral component that becomes more evident with time. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded, juicy tannin and layers of sweet black fruit."
