Chasse Spleen is a cool, brooding classic style of Medoc wine with a terrific core of tight, Cabernet dominated fruit. Located in the Moulis appellation, in the heart of the Médoc, Château Chasse-Spleen was founded in 1720. Its name “Chasse-Spleen,” acquired in 1863, is inspired by Anglo-Saxon culture and Baudelaire. The estate has been managed since 2000 by Céline Villars. Château Chasse-Spleen boasts a beautiful terroir on a gravelly outcropping in the Grand Poujeaux area.

Press Review

Wine Advocate 92-94/100
"The 2017 Chasse-Spleen has a very elegant bouquet with neatly integrated oak, the terroir really showing through here, hints of cedar and smoke emerging with time. The palate is fresh as a button on the entry. It is cut through with a superb line of acidity that engenders superb tension, the tannins firm but fine with a subtle marine influence towards the persistent finish. This is a fabulous Chasse-Spleen, the best I have ever tasted from the estate. It could end up at the top of by banded score."

Searsons: Still In a League of Their Own.

A great wine merchant with an enviable history and tradition. The best wines priced as competitively as possible in an insanely expensive economy that is Ireland - no easy task.
