Simon Tyrrell Background
Simon Tyrrell has spent over twenty-five years in the international wine trade and drinks business, working initially in distribution and latterly in production with experience in France, Spain, the UK and Ireland.
Initially in sales development, Simon worked for La Société des Vins de France in Paris between 1992-1995, C&O Wines in the U.K from 1995-1998 and Woodford Bourne in Ireland from 1998-2000. In 2000, he became co-owner of Dublin based wine importing business Tyrrell & Woods before in 2003, establishing and running Tyrrell & Company Wine Importers until 2016 when he sold the business to another Irish importer, Tindal Wine Merchants. Tyrrell & Company was voted ‘Wine Importer of the Year’ by The Sunday Business Post a record eight times between 2007-2015.
In 2009, Simon undertook a two year viticulture and oenology course at Plumpton College, University of Brighton before going on to purchase a series of vineyards in the Rhône Valley and creating Domaine Les Deux Cols, an 8 hectare organic estate which lies between Montélimar and Avignon, as well as starting a grape purchasing negoçiant business, Atelier des Sources. Today, half the estate’s production is sold domestically in France and the other half to export markets in Ireland, the U.K, Belgium, Canada and Australia.
Simon also established and continues to oversee wine production for Tindal Wine Merchants at two separate locations in Spain; the emerging regions of Yecla and the Sierra de Gredos. His role within Tindal also involves portfolio development and support for the nationwide sales team.
