Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste was historically created by an adviser to the Parliament of Bordeaux in the early eighteenth century but the current castle dates from 1850. He entered the Borie family in 1978 and is now managed by François-Xavier. The Borie family has owned prestigious Grands Crus Classés for several generations now. This is undoubtedly one of the best terroirs of Pauillac and one of the most regular classified wines at the highest level. Lacoste Borie is the second wine of the famous Château Grand Puy Lacoste.

Tasting Notes

Wonderfully powerful and brooding, the cassis and blackcurrant character will age beautifully to produce a wine of great complexity. Features a solid black currant, licorice and tobacco core, with well-embedded tarry grip.

Press Review

"Displays light briary and blackberry fruit on the nose, just a hint of cold black tea and truffle. Fine definition. The palate is quite supple on the entry, that Merlot adding a pleasant fleshiness to counter the precise Cabernet. Very lively and classic." 90-92/100 Robert Parker

The Wine Advocate
90/100

"The 2016 Lacoste-Borie is a blend of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, cropped at 50 hectoliters per hectare. It has a clean and precise bouquet, not as complex as some of its peers, yet with thoroughly enjoyable raspberry and blackcurrant leaf tinged with cedar. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy, slightly dry tannin on the entry, hints of dark chocolate interlacing the black fruit with a touch of cracked black pepper on the finish."
