Larry McKenna, commonly known as ‘McPinot’ started Escarpment in 1998 after cutting his teeth in both Europe and with Martinborough Vineyards. After many years spent looking for that special site, Larry and his wife, Sue, found they kept returning to Martinborough
and specifically to Te Muna, 5 kilometres south east of Martinborough village. There, they established 24 hectares of vineyard on the terraces of alluvial gravel that overlook the Huangarua River. The land is farmed organically, with certification due in the next 12 months.

Inspired by the classic wines of Burgundy, this elegant wine displays wonderful perfume and red fruits with its soft, ripe tannins. With the perfect mix of black, red and green fruits, this is a complex wine with a fruit-driven profile.
