Larry McKenna, commonly known as ‘McPinot’ started Escarpment in 1998 after cutting his teeth in both Europe and with Martinborough Vineyards. After many years spent looking for that special site, Larry and his wife, Sue, found they kept returning to Martinborough
and specifically to Te Muna, 5 kilometres south east of Martinborough village. There, they established 24 hectares of vineyard on the terraces of alluvial gravel that overlook the Huangarua River. The land is farmed organically, with certification due in the next 12 months.

Tasting Notes

Very attractive perfume, spice and earthy depth here, as well as vibrant, red-cherry and berry aromas. There’s very attractive tautness to this pinot with crisp tannins that define ripe red cherries and red plums in assertive and succulent style.
