Château Puy Blanquet is a lovely property located at Saint Etienne de Liss, a few miles to the east of the medieval town of Saint Emilion. Roger Jacquet acquired the estate in 1958 and since his death in 2000 his wife Marcelle has been at the helm. She is assisted by Pierre Meunier, who trained under Jean Pierre Moueix, one of the most famous names in Bordeaux. The wine is made mostly from Merlot for its rich plummy flavours, with Cabernet Franc adding some exuberant, spicy raspberry notes and a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon for depth and structure. After fermentation the wine was matured for a year in oak barrels, adding complex notes of liquorice and tobacco leaf.

Perfumed bright red fruits on the nose, on the palate there are notes of crushed, raspberry fruit with an earthy, savoury character. Plump and rounded fruit which is balanced by an elegant, fresh acidity and well integrated tannins.

D"eep garnet-purple colored 2018 Puy-Blanquet gives up notes of warm red and black cherries, mulberries and fruitcake with hints of baking spices, fallen leaves and dried Provence herbs. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is tautly structured with firm, chewy tannins and bold freshness, finishing long and lively."
