VINTAGE NOTES: High temperatures during summer advancement harvest about two weeks, however the grapes are well balanced and have a great aromatic expression.

FERMENTATION NOTES: 5-7 days of cold maceration. Temperature controlled fermentation (26 – 28°C). Selected yeast. 4 pump-overs per day. 20 days maceration on skins. Full malolactic fermentation in barrel.

AGEING PROCESS: 12 to 14 month ageing. French oak barrels of 1st and 2nd use.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS: Open one hour before serving at room temperature between 15° to 16° C. The soft tannins of Merlot make it a great match with full flavoured meats such as beef, lamb, venison and game. Sauces that are not too rich will go well with this wine as well as roast garlic and vegetables. Cheeses, both soft and hard are always good.

The winery

Chile’s first inhabitants believed that life began from the union between Mother Earth and the Sun. This is celebrated through
Paso del Sol – a range of friendly, easy drinking varietals which express the perfect union of each grape variety with the terroir. A long tradition of vineyard ownership defines Terra Mater’s cultivation of their vines, reflecting the best their terroirs – Isla de
Maipo and the Curico Valley – can offer. They rigorously practise sustainable farming methods and represent the perfect
coordination of top quality wine making practices, searching for innovation and the desire to achieve the best their vineyards can deliver through the creation of wines that pay homage to the generosity of Mother Earth. These wines represent some of the best value at their pricepoint on our list.
