Paolo Conterno Barolo Ginestra Riserva 2011

230.00

From a single hectare parcel of 35-year-old vines at 300 – 350 meters above sea level & only 333 cases produced.

The Riserva is considered the best product by Giorgio Conterno, who ripens the wine for 5 years in large oak barrels. The Riserva is only produced in very good years, the last time in 1995.

The estate’s style is rooted in tradition: extended maceration and long aging in large casks, with the resulting wines perfectly reflecting Ginestra’s excellence: laser pure perfumes, great balance, approachability and long potential for aging.

About This Wine...

“The 2011 Barolo Ginestra Riserva is every bit as special as the handsome wooden cases in which this collection is sold, along with a newly redesigned label. It’s a gorgeous vintage, very full and generous, whose warmer temperatures are reflected in lots of dark, black, rich and ripe penetrating fruit. The Riserva’s texture really emerges as unique because it is woven tightly and dense, yet there is ample softness and richness here. It is another Piedmont gem for your cellar. Drink 2022 -2045.”

96/100 Robert Parker 2019

“Pale-medium ruby-garnet. Earth, some grilled-meat tones, dark chocolate, tar and spice. Broad, dark and brooding. Dense, deep, tarry-smoky palate, black and red cherry, with crushed rock, spice and old leather. Firm, fine tannins. Some alcohol, but since most dimensions are turned up to 11, this works. Long. 2020-2035.”

18/20 Jancis Robinson 2019
