Ogier Cote Rotie Reserve 2013

90.00

100% Syrah

For the “reserve” bottling of 2013 Côte-Rôtie, some partially destemmed fruit from the Leyat, Champon and La Viallière parcels are included, among others, showing a darker fruit profile, more pronounced iron streak and more black tea–infused finish (the signature mark of the Ogier style). All his Cote Rotie wines have admirably fleshy fruit, despite the cooler vintage profile of higher acidity.

“2013 is ripe,” said Ogier flatly. “September was very warm. But we also kept the acidity because overall it was cool and harvested late. These are wines that will need some time, both in terms of élevage and in bottle.”

About This Wine...

“Pretty majestic on the nose. Sumptuous, ambitious fruit. Very youthful, but with excellent energy and potential.”

17.5/20 Jancis Robinson

“The Reserve cuvée doesn’t disappoint and there are roughly 800 cases of this deep ruby-colored beauty. It offers medium to full-bodied richness, bright acidity, solid concentration and classic notes of smoked blackberries, black raspberries, spice box, dried earth and tapenade. It’s going to need 4-5 years of bottle age and should have two decades of overall longevity. Drink 2020 – 2040.”

92+/100 Robert Parker 2016
