Ogier Cote Rotie Lieu-dit ‘Fongeant’ 2012

Lieux Dits, which translates to ‘said location’, refers to a specific site akin to a single vineyard. Stephane has 6 Lieux Dits across both the Côte Blonde and Brune – feminine, masculine, floral, savoury, earthiness all come through. Each wine had a great personality. Most would stand on their own, one or two looked to offer more structural elements, without the balance of fruit weight.

About This Wine...

“From a vineyard just above the lieu-dit Cote Brune, the 2012 Cote Rotie Fongeant is much more focused, mineral-laced and structured than the But de Mont cuvee. Blackberries, cassis, violets, olive and hints of truffle all emerge from this medium-bodied, fresh and classically structured Cote Rotie. While it’s not a powerhouse, it will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and drink well over the following decade or more. Drink 2018 – 2028.”

92/100 Robert Parker
