Ogier Cote Rotie ‘Lancement’ 2012

275.00

100% Syrah

Lancement comes from their old vine Syrah holdings on the Cote Blonde. Lancement is a small production wine, even for Cote Rotie. The grapes are 100% destemmed. The wine is vinified in stainless steel tanks.

The wine used to be aged in an average of 50% new, French oak barrels. Today, there is no new oak used in the aging process that lasts for 20 months. The wine made its debut in 2001. Close to 100 cases are produced each vintage.

About This Wine...

Cote-Rotie Lancement from Stephane Ogier is produced on a vineyard of 1 hectare. The vines, on average 40 years old, are planted on a layer of granite. Cote-Rotie Lancement 2012 from Domaine Stephane Ogier is aged for 20 months in French oak barrels.

“Giving up a sensational perfume of lavender, olive tapenade, violets and black raspberry fruit, it flows onto the palate with full-bodied richness, a seamless, silky texture, ultra-fine tannin and a great finish. I’d happily drink this rock star Côte Rôtie anytime over the coming 15-20 years. Drink 2015 – 2032.”

95/100 Robert Parker
