About This Wine...
“Seductive aromas of cream and vanilla custard. Contrasting palate of pithy kumquats and cream. Integrated vanilla flavours from fermentation in oak barrels. Light bodied but not light in flavour. A wine that will reward aging for several years.” TheTaste.ie, March 2019
The wine is brilliant pale gold with a delicate citrus nose and notes of spice. Mouth filling lemon and spice followed by hints of
stone fruit with a clean, lingering warm finish.
The Vintage: A mild summer with perfect ripening conditions and vines in good balance meant the grapes ripened very early with great flavour development. Vintage commenced on the 1st of February.
The Vineyards: Single site vineyard planted in 1962 in Watervale. No irrigation, artificial fertilisers, pesticides or herbicides have been used in growing these grapes.
The Winemaking: The grapes were handpicked, destemmed, chilled and drained immediately. Only the first free-run juice for is reserved for this Semillon. The juice is then run into French oak barrels for fermentation with wild yeast and aged on lees for 12 months creating a beautiful balanced wine.

strength to strength since its inauguration in 1975. Andrew’s philosophy is to make wines of intensity of varietal fruit flavours, defining regional character with balance and elegance. The wines combine the rare feat of drinkability in their youth with great ageing capacity. Meanwhile the Clare Valley Winemakers Association recognised Jane as a Clare Valley legend and inducted her into their Hall of Fame. Son Angus manages Mitchell’s 80 ha incorporating the sustainable farming beliefs laid out before him by his grandfather Peter and father Andrew.
