Brauneberger Mandelgraben* Pinot Noir, Markus Molitor, Mosel 2014

42.00

The aroma reminiscent of morello cherry, blackberry, graphite, cocoa, vanilla, juniper, caramel and liquorice. Fruity, concentrated, elegant and silky structure with a nicely balanced acidity, round tannin structure on the palate resulting in a complex mineral finish.

About This Wine...

The Estate

Described as ‘The Lord of the 1,000 Rieslings’, Markus Molitor took over the responsibility of his parents’ 7.5 acre estate in 1984. Vision, drive and an uncompromising devotion to quality have increased the holding to 125 acres in 18 appellations of the steepest and most coveted vineyard sites along the banks of the Mosel. In the spirit of authenticity and terroir, all of these wines are fermented naturally – no cultured yeasts, no fining agents, no enzymes and no other additives are ever used. Each wine (of which we have chosen but a small selection) expresses the single vineyard character, the vintage, the quality and the style, to its extreme authenticity.

Awards and Reviews

2011 Vintage “The Molitor vineyards are some of the best in Mosel and with meticulous winemaking the result is spectacular. A depth of ripe dark fruits, shimmering tannins, lustrous acidity and a meaty finish. It is a Pinot Noir to make the Cote d’Or jealous” Tomás Clancy, The Sunday Business Post 28th  May 2017

2008 Vintage “meaty and game-like on the nose, touches of cherry, linear with great acidity and freshness, firm tannic backbone……….long, multilayered finish.  Needs hours of decanting…………should benefit from further ageing”  92 ptsTomás Clancy – The Sunday Business Post June 1, 2014
