Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Foret 2016

In the Domaine’s two parcels, the bedrock is very close to the ground, just a few centimetres underfoot. The minerality it conveys to the wine is therefore clean, precise and powerful.

“Intense and tensile wines are the calling card here, pure and unadorned by style and consistently high in quality. Indeed, I sometimes think that Louis Michel is the most underrated of Chablis’s great domaines.”

About This Wine...

“The Forêts bursts in the glass with a direct and projected bouquet of lemon, lime and white flowers, and a top note of beeswax. On the palate the wine is fuller-bodied and more ample than the Montmains, with good concentration and stony depth, and a moderately long finish. This should drink very well on release. Drink 2019 – 2027.”

91/100 Decanter

“The 2016 Chablis 1er Cru Forêts stands out as one of the highlights of the range in 2016, offering up aromas of white peach, mandarin, Meyer lemon and spring flowers. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied, glossy and nicely concentrated, with good cut and tension, concluding with a saline finish. This won’t be one of the longest-lived renditions of the Louis Michel Forêts, but it will make for very attractive drinking in the near term. Drink 2018 – 2026.”

91/100 Robert Parker 2018
