About This Wine...
“notes of underbrush and loamy earth, complemented by mulberry and black currant flavors that add complexity. Elegant and silky in feel, with vibrant acidity and tannins that show a bit of grip. Would be better with food. Drink now through 2028.“ – Wine Spectator
“From deep gravel soil to the west of Saint Nicolas, this wine is rich and balanced despite its modest alcohol. Ripe, firm tannins give the wine richness and structure along with some further ageing potential. Perfumed red-berry fruits offer a fresh take. “ – Wine Enthusiast
The vineyard’s reputation for producing fine wines goes back over 300 years. Indeed, LE FONDIS, was singled out for its fine wine on a map of the period delimiting the best fruit and vegetable growing areas in the region. All that stands between Le Fondis and a “cru” classification is, an application because it meets all the other criteria: it is easier to maintain (30% less time is devoted to Le Fondis than to other vineyards), is less susceptible to disease and always produces beautiful grapes.
A perfect partner for rich stews, like pork or beef cheek with sauce, cooked for a couple of hours, or a duck confit or even with cured cheeses.
