About This Wine...
100% Melon de Bourgogne. A shiny straw yellow colour; strong nose with hawthorn, citrus and lemon aromas. A fresh, harmonious, concentrated palate giving real ageing potential.
‘With an enticing wet-stone minerality, this crisp fresh wine will pair wonderfully with oysters on the half shell or any delicate white fish like lemon sole.’ The Irish Independent, 9th September 2017
Les Bêtes Curieuses is Jérémie Huchet’s joint venture with another of the Western Loire’s most dynamic producers, Jérémie Mourat. Together they have identified some of the region’s most interesting terroirs and gradually begun to buy up parcels of some of the Cru Communaux; Clisson, Gorges, Château Thébaud and Goulaine. Like Clos les Montys the vineyards are farmed organically and are generally made up of very old vines (50 years old for Clisson). Clisson is essentially a granite
based vineyard and as such there is a tremendous sense of freshness allied to the natural salinity of wines from this area. The grapes are directly pressed and then fermented in underground tanks where the wine spends two years on its fine lees. The quality of these wines is comparable to the top wines of Chablis and should be automatic choices for any wine lover.
