Wilson on Wine 2019: Wines to Drink This Year “fresh floral nose, intense fruit-filled palate – ripe but pure with refreshing citrus acidity” John Wilson
“Lovely rich ripe pure apple fruits, balanced perfectly by a seam of refreshing citrus acidity” John Wilson in the Irish Times, October 2018
Clean, fresh citrus character with a gentle toastiness. Pure, citrus, fruits, lime, a little ripe fruit, lovely balanced acidity. Single vineyard Macon from the small ‘Franclieu’ vineyard.
DOMAINE JEAN MANCIAT Mâconnais
Jean started his estate in 1985 and in the early years sold all his wines in bulk to the negoçiants. Gradually, he grew the estate by new plantations of specific Chardonnay clones and using integrated viticultural techniques which helped maintain and improve the authenticity of the terroir. Jean always makes sure he has a high level of maturity with his grapes which is reflected in the wines which are given extended lees contact to help retain the aromatic bouquet. His wine is fresh and concentrated in the mouth and the Macon-Charnay ‘Franclieu’, his most respected wine, has added richness to it.
