Herdade dos Grous White 2019, Alentejo

Antão Vaz (50%), Arinto (30%) (& Gouveio (20%)

The Herdade dos Grous White, is our classic example of the fruit and terroir of the estate. Minimalistic winemaking intervention allows the grapes to stand out and show its freshness and exuberance.

Created from scratch in the Alentejo landscape, you will find Herdade dos Grous. In Albernoa, 17 kilometers from Beja, Herdade dos Grous brings together the production of wine, livestock, rural tourism and wine tourism.

Alentejo, Portugal’s largest province holds the traditional Portuguese charm and a Moorish heritage, which can be seen in all its architecture. Its continental climate with Mediterranean influences, offers ideal conditions for the production of fantastic wines and extremely high quality regional products.

About This Wine...

Gold green colour. Intense tropical fruit aroma. The palate is rich in fruit, fine, elegant and well-balanced acidity.

Like all the Herdade dos Gros labels, this is elegant and simple. The complexity of the aroma, even on a young wine, reflects the mix of varieties. There’s plenty of grapefruit zest but also a more richer, almost oily character and plenty of ripe stone fruit. There’s breadth in the mouth balanced by excellent freshness. Clean lines with lovely depth. Definitely a wine of the south but without heaviness – picked at just the right moment to keep the freshness but not lose the flavours of these three varieties. Good length, too. “

16.5/20 Jancis Robinson
