Domaine Ragot Givry ‘Vieilles Vignes’ 2019

Pinot Noir

“Nicolas Ragot took the helm at this eight-hectare Givry estate in 2003, modernizing the bottling line and cuverie to work in a more precise, less interventionist manner. Working the soils, harvesting by hand and classical winemaking with destemmed fruit and macerations of some 10-15 days are the rudiments of the approach. The result is supple, flavorful reds and whites that still fly somewhat under the radar and which merit consumer attention.”

About This Wine...

This ‘old vines’ Givry comes from a selection of 50 year vineyard parcels.

“Strident new oak vanilla scent, plus a green, minty note. Juicy red fruit on the palate, balancing the oak well, and while the body is quite light, there is an attractive chalkiness to the texture. Drink 2019 – 2024.”

16.5/20 Jancis Robinson

“Aromas of sweet berry fruit, chocolate and spices preface the 2017 Givry Vieilles Vignes, a medium to full-bodied, velvety wine with powdery tannins, juicy acids and attractive purity of fruit. Drink 2018 – 2025.”

89/100 Robert Parker
