Domaine Padié ‘Petit Taureau’ 2018 Vin de France

50% Carignan Noir, 30% Syrah & 20% Mourvèdre

8-10 months in concrete tanks.

Jean-Philippe Padié was born and raised in Burgundy, but always dreamed of returning to his grandparent’s home in the Southwest. In 2001, after his studies, he moved to the famous village of Calce to make natural wine. He works with no additives or sulphites. His wines are distinctly crafted, with a lifted quality rare in the Roussillon.

This is an aromatic wine with floral, red berry, red cherry fruit and racy acidity. It is full of energy, plump, with juicy tannins and surprisingly mineral.

About This Wine...

“From half chalk, half schiste ……. Carignan, Syrah with small amounts of Mourvedre, Padie’s Cotes du Roussillon Petit Taureau displays juicy elderberry and cherry tinged with salt and hinting at smoky, charred red meat – from its Syrah – that adds another dimension of saliva-inducing savor. This is texturally spare and firm but completely charming thanks to its sheer juiciness and its salinity.”

90/100 Robert Parker
