Domaine Padié ‘Milouise’ Blanc 2018 Vin de France

Grenache Gris, Grenache blanc, Maccabeu, Carignan blanc, Clairette, Tourbat, Muscat petit grains, Muscat d’Alexandrie

Jean-Philippe Padié was born and raised in Burgundy, but always dreamed of returning to his grandparent’s home in the Southwest. In 2001, after his studies, he moved to the famous village of Calce to make natural wine. He works with no additives or sulphites. His wines are distinctly crafted, with a lifted quality rare in the Roussillon.

‘Milouise’ is Jean-Philippe’s top white made from the oldest vines of the Domaine, all co-planted, very limited production. It’s named after the grand-parents, Milou and Louise. It’s a wine of great intensity, energy and complexity yet fresh with lightness of body and alcohol.

About This Wine...

“Far and away Padie’s most expensive bottling, his ‘Milouise’ – sourced from two sites of mixed Grenache, one chalky, one schistic. Lime, honeysuckle and green tea delightfully inform the nose ushering-in a sappy, luscious palate presence of apple, lime, pineapple, and grapefruit, with pepper, salted radish, lime zest, green tea, and pineapple core combining for a tactile- tingling, invigorating as well as mouthwatering finish. This blend deliciously displays the special synergy possible in Roussillon between Macabeu and the Grenaches (notably Grenache Gris) as well as the sheer nuanced diversity of which blends form this region’s white and gris cepages are capable.”
