About This Wine...
One of the most revered names in Burgundy, the Domaine was founded in 1632 and has some of the finest holdings in Puligny-Montrachet, including four Premier Crus and one Grand Cru. We receive small allocations of these. The wines listed represent the finest expression of Chardonnay: rich and powerful, yet racy and full of fresh fruit. In 2010, Jacques and François decided to create their own respective domaines.
“Jacques Carillon’s 2016 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Perrières is showing brilliantly from bottle, offering up a classic bouquet of crisp green apple, lemon oil and mandarin, complemented by some subtly exotic, musky top notes that lend this wine an old-fashioned feel and which weren’t perceptible from barrel. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and intensely mineral, with more flesh on its bones than the Champ Canet but with a similarly incisive line of acidity, concluding with a long finish. I suspect this is likely to drink sooner than either the Champ Canet or the Referts this year. Drink 2019-2033.”

“Rather charming ‘golden’ nose with the merest hint of struck match and very straightforward and classic on the palate. But presumably it will tighten up because there is lots of matter here. Quite long and vibrato on the end. Impressively persistent. Drink 2020 – 2028.”
