Domaine Auguste Clape Côtes du Rhône Rouge 2008

45.00

Rich purple Syrah colour, boasts a wonderfully intense bouquet of lush, ripe blackcurrents and spicy pepper. On the palate the wine is rich, smooth and full bodied with intense fruit and classic Syrah peppery flavours, reflecting perfectly the bouquet. The soft, round tannins are ever present giving rise to a very well polished balance and a superb long, elegant finish.

About This Wine...

The Estate

Owned by Auguste Clape and his son Pierre-Marie, the vineyards are planted on the various of the best hillside sites in the appellation – Côteaux de Tezier, Les Renards, Les Mazards, Chaillot & Sabarotte. The Cornas vines are grown on classic crumbly, granite based soils with good clay content, while the Côte de Rhônes come from stoney, alluvial, valley floor soils. The Cornas vines are 45 years old: Auguste maintains using old oak to express the terroir best is paramount.
