Clos Triguedina AOC Cahors, Jean-Luc Baldès 2016
Malbec with addition of Merlot and Tannat. Black and red fruits with a hint of liquorice on the nose. Fully balanced and concentrated with ripe tannins. A classic Cahors wine.
Clos Triguedina is a domaine with a rich history. Situated between Toulouse and Bordeaux, Cahors has been known since the days of the Roman Empire for its full bodied wines. The 65 hectare estate beside the River Lot have been in the hands of the Baldes family since 1830 and they are recognised as one of the founders of the Cahors appellation. Now in the capable hands of Jean-Luc the tradition of Malbec cultivation continues.
"Very savoury, gamey nose and intensely peppery on the palate. So raw-meaty it's almost bleeding. This is muscled, defined, dark, glowering, mineral Cahors in splendid ferociousness. Bring on the wild-boat stew. Drink 2021 - 2030."
