About the winery
The appellation of Saint Emilion is situated on the right bank of the Gironde river, just east of the city of Bordeaux. Along with it’s neighbour Pomerol, Saint Emilion is best suited to the growing of Merlot, the early ripening red grape , which typically gives wine a soft, plummy, rounded character. Château Puy Blanquet is a 20 hectare property located at Saint Etienne de Lise, a few miles to the east of the medieval town of Saint-Emilion. Roger Jacquet acquired the estate in 1958 and since his death in 2000 his wife Marcelle has continued to run the estate, assisted by Pierre Meunier, who trained under Jean-Pierre Moueix, one of the most famous names in Bordeaux.
