Chateau Grand Puy Lacoste 2011 Pauillac

95.00

78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot

Among Pauillac’s wines, Grand-Puy-Lacoste is considered “a great classic”, capable of aligning its consistent character with the spirit of each vintage.

The wines have a beautiful, deep color, the aromas are very pure and complex, subtle and refined. Depending on the vintage, one’s first impression may be of ripe fruit or flowers, often toasted notes, spice and vanilla… With time it develops a remarkably full, rich character. The wines are well-built, with a powerful tannic structure which never loses its silky smoothness.

About This Wine...

“Reflecting the fruity, forward style of the vintage, this wine is packed with ripe black currants. There is a strong Cabernet character–it’s dry initially, then followed by juiciness. It’s a concentrated wine, although not for long-term aging. Drink from 2017.”

92/100 Wine Enthusiast 2014

“Overall, this is an elegant effort from Xavier Borie. A dark ruby/purple hue and a classic nose of smoky black currants and flowers are followed by a medium-bodied wine with more finesse and elegance than the blockbuster style seen in great vintages. Penetrating acidity gives the 2011 Grand Puy Lacoste excellent vibrancy as well as definition. Drink 2012 – 2027.”

89-91/100 Robert Parker 2012
