Chateau Cantemerle 2015, Haut Medoc

65.00

59% Cab/Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 8% cab/franc & 6% Petit Verdot.

Acquired in 1981 by a mutual insurance company, Château Cantemerle has made good value Bordeaux for thirty years.  Stylistically it resembles fine Margaux, the appellation to which the property borders. Prices are always consistent here for the grand vin and the great vintages like 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2015 are wines to buy in spades if you want to enjoy excellent Bordeaux at a reasonable price.

About This Wine...

“One of the sleepers of the vintage, the 2015 Cantemerle is even better from bottle than it was from barrel. Dark cherry, plum, licorice, new leather and tobacco all flesh out in this inviting, resonant Haut-Médoc. A wine with gorgeous presence and no hard edges, Cantemerle captures all the sheer early appeal of the vintage. Drink 2020 – 2030.”

90/100 Vinous 2018

“Fresh, featuring ripe plum and cassis notes gilded with a floral hint and backed by subtle cedar, tobacco and iron notes. Textbook typicity. A rock-solid value. Best from 2019 through 2027.”

90/100 Wine Spectator 2018
